Waterwatch SA BioCollect Instructions

The Waterwatch SA BioCollect Portal is an online database for Waterwatch participants from South Australia to upload water quality data collected from catchments throughout South Australia.

This database is designed to assist volunteers to:

  • Store and manage information they collect
  • Network with other groups and the public
  • Share local knowledge
  • Evaluate data

Waterwatch SA aims to:

  1. Understand the resource condition and trend of catchments in South Australia

  2. Monitor local impacts of a range of land use and management changes

  3. Support other monitoring activities in the catchments

  4. Measure impacts of the return of low flows being implemented through the Flows for the Future Program in the catchments covered by that program

The data is stored in the Atlas of Living Australia Waterwatch SA BioCollect portal. The Waterbug Bioblitz-macroinvertebrate data is archived with the Biological Database of South Australia and the National Waterbug Blitz database, and the water quality data is also sent to the Bureau of Meteorology and becomes a part of a national water resource database.
